Does Your Business Need A Marketing Makeover?

Is your online presence lacking luster? Do the words metatags and seo make you breakout in hives? Not to worry, here is an easy read with a basic breakdown of how each works.

Website Design

Your website if how your customers will gauge the professionalism and friendliness of your business. It must be visually appealing with verbiage on point without being excessive. It must tell a story and connect the user to the emotional experience they want to have by working with you.

Your site must look better on mobile than desktop as most service based industries see 70% of their traffic from mobile platforms such as mobile phones and tablets.

Lastly, your website should make doing business with you easy. Clients should be able to click on your phone number and have their phone automatically dial through to you. Do you schedule appointments or take reservations? Booking has to be available online (or at least have the appearance of such) with payments available through your site.

SEO

Search Engine Optimization is a term used to cover the discoverability of your site through Google, Yahoo, Safari, Bing, etc. This is done by optimizing each link, photo, page heading, metatags and keywords on your website. Managing the backend of your site is just as important as the front end. If search engines don't direct people to your site, you won't get new clients

Things such as Yelp, Google Ad Words, Google Reviews, etc all feed into SEO as well. Our services here provides for optimization on these other platforms as well.

Facebook

The overall purpose of any social media platform is to be social. To accomplish this on a business page several things have to happen.

You have to like/share/follow other vendors and people that are relevant to your business. Randomly promoting others is not a good idea, it lessens your credibility in the algorithms for Facebook. Selecting vendors like car dealers, car shows, enthusiasts, people who provide racing parts or corvette memorabilia...those are the types of social contacts you want on social media.

Hashtags vs tagging. Hashtags tell search engines what your page is about. It's essentially a highway to your site from the internet. Learning how to correctly hashtag your posts makes a huge difference and learning what tags to stay away from is just as important. Tagging is how you get your efforts to show up directly on other peoples news feeds or in their notifications. You can tag a business page, a person as an individual or a location but each has it's own process and best practices for doing so.

Generic Facebook ads are a waste of time and money. You have to allocate a specific target audience in order for those ad dollars to be effective. You can do this through keywords, your customer demographics, location and much more.

Facebook algorithms are complex. Breaking down when is the best day/time to post, what you should post (text, photo, video, live video) and best practices makes your efforts worth while and not just a waste of time/effort.

Instagram

Just like with Facebook, the purpose of Instagram is to be social. So how does that benefit you as a business owner? It builds your audience, your referral base, your word of mouth.

So how to use Instagram for that if it's all about images? Instagram users tend to be looking for someone they want to emulate (celebrity), a lifestyle they want to have (home decor/healthy living) or an experience they want to have (travel/adventure). Using your customer avatar to attract clients who will enjoy or benefit from your product or service make the investment into Instagram worth while.
